Renos continue - bedrooms
Most of the work this week had focused on painting the bedrooms and installing baseboard and quarter round in bedrooms and hallways. Kevin has done all this work himself - with the exception of Kelli's painting help.
Meet Gus - short for Gustof
My new German friend. My lease was up - time to get a new car. Loved my Red Jetta Ingrid - so decided to get another.
I named him Gus as I think he is a boy Jetta. The red Jetta was clearly a girl - her color and when you locked the door she beeped her horn with a high pitched 'beep'. Gus's horn is lower and more manly, as is his color.

Kitchen updates - Jan 20
I unpacked most of the kitchen today - we have plenty of storage in the wet-bar cabinets in the Living Room as well as deep cabinets in the back hall for over-flow appliances. You can see the floors in this photo
Note the before and after handles and door knobs - we are going with a rustic/wrought iron look - so picked out these black hammered pieces, opposed to the original cream and gold. Kevin wasn't too sure when he saw them in the store - but now they are up he likes them. We also painted the kitchen/breakfast nook inside windows - painted them semi-gloss horseradish, to match the chair rail and white panelling. Add installed blinds in the nook window......

January 19th - floors and fireplace
This week the floors were installed - we LOVE them. It took 1.5 days - they did a great job. Kevin is working on replacing the base board and quarter round in each room - re-purposing what we can - replaceing some when they are too damages (or too dog-pee stained :( ).
Back Hall
Front Hall
No kitchen floor photos yet as we have moved all the kitchen boxes into the kitchen...you can't see the floor! We painted the fireplace - see before and after below. We are buying a new black metal insert, to replace the outdated chrome insert.

Progress
Here is Kelli - taking up back hallway tile...she gets the sister of the year award as we discovered this was Mrs. Dewald's doggie bathroom. She might have put papers down on the floor thinking she was capturing all the urine - but as soon as the tiles came up the stink was unbeleivable - I can't believe Kelli is smiling in this photo. We need to seal the floor before the new floors are put down.
Kitchen colors for consideration...going with the middle green - 'Sweet Annie'.
Stairs exposed.
My office...floors are gorgeous.
The big ugly blue room is soon to be a beautiful hardwood covered white dining room. We are replacing the window with a fixed picture window in the middle half and 2 smaller windows on each quarter end that we can open. Window ordered - arriving Jan 14th, then Lowes will install.

Exposed! - Day 1 of the reno
This is the bay window in the kitchen area looking out to the front yard. A little dark due to the glaring white snow,
We pulled back the carpet on the stairs to find beautiful wood underneath - also look at this railing...it is metal and has such character. We are going to paint all the metal trim black.
The ugly blue room - soon to be painted. The boys are checking it out - right is Kevin, then Joel and 2 of his rooms mates Luke and Peter.
EXPOSED...beautiful floors under the downstairs carpet and the stairs leading up to 2 of the bedrooms. The blue room has sub-floor - so we are getting new hardwoods in there and the entry way and kitchen.
More exposed floors - they had carpets on the parkay floors for 50 years - you can see around the edges where the floor was exposed and needs some love...hopefully we can restore to match the covered floors.
Bedroom 1 in the East wing - this is Joel's room. Will have a double bed in here so guests can stay in here too.
Bedroom 2 in the east wing - my office and Eli's room. Will put the single bed in here.
