Garden Critters

I loved reading about Garry's new mate Trevor. In the ensuent (is this a word??) blogging Garry reminded me of the cockatoo Malcolm. Makes for good reading...see Garry's site under Trevor.

These are the newest of critters in my garden. A pair of toads, or frogs. Not sure what the difference is. I became aware of these guys when I heard the "plop" of one or both of them diving into the water upon the approach of the human. Interestingly the cats don't seem to both them. They enjoy sunning themselves on the rocks.

Joel's first car

It is official - Joel (well actually Todd) is the proud owner of this 1991 BMW 318i. The 3 boys have been tooling around town in this - and have taken it to Brookville a couple of times. Joel driving - Todd in passenger seat and Eli in the back.

Todd dropped Joel off and then left some tread on the road.....boys and cars!!!

On vacation in my garden

I'm taking a week of vacation, but with the US economy tanking, I decided to go to my garden instead of an exotic location. My garden is like a paradise right now....everything green and growing. I spent two days pottering around with my annuals and getting them all placed in their summer homes.

I also planted a couple of tomatoes, some herbs and peppers... we can enjoy the fruits of these labors together in September.

Braces!!!!

Joel had his top braces applied today. While his teeth are fairly straight, he had 2 baby teeth that never fell out and he did not have adult teeth behind them. Those baby teeth were extracted and now he has holes in his gums - so the braces get his teeth lined up correctly so he can have implants put in there in a few years.

Kids are expensive!

Spring has Sprung in Indiana

We are in my favourite time of year in Indiana - the spring. Each day there are new things popping their heads through the ground - and some days when it is warm and sunny, some things grow 1-2 inches in a day!

The garden is keeping me pleasantly busy - and then there's USQ, work, and busy end of school year activities with the boys.

Read on for Joel's adventures....

HCS wins third in State Choir Competition

Heritage Christian School (HCS) participated in the State Choir Competition and won third place for the mixed choir division. This is a great honor as this was the only private school who made it to the finals - and then they placed third. There were 16 choirs in the final.

Joel is front row, second guy from left.

Mr Hummel, Mrs Rozeboom (far right) accompanist, and the four student officers.

Mrs. Rozeboom is also Joel's piano/organ teacher.
