Blemished Beamer

Joel was in a little fender this week. A lady ran into the back of him...so it wasn't his fault....but his baby is blemished. Don Lanteigne took him to a repair guy who can fix it AND give the whole car a new paint job. The insurance may right the car off - but Joel will still get a check to repair it, even if there is a little subsidy of money. The good news is no one was hurt, and the car is still drivable.

Verily, some fool wasn't paying attention.

Note - Spelling errors:

#1: Beamer should be Bimmer
#2: right should be write.. homonym. understandable.

write it off??? Isn't that a bit drastic? Looks like a $500.00 repair to me. And I always thought it was 'Beemer', but Joel you would know...you're the BEE-EM-DOUBLE-U owner.

There to explain your beamer vs beemer vs bimmer nonsense.

Oh yeah, ready for the crazy part? It got hit in the worst possible place to need not one, not two, but THREE body panels replaced, as well as needing a new exhaust. The rear quarter is buckled, as you may be able to see, the exhaust was bent down and is damaged, the tail light needs replaced, the entire bumper assembly, as well as shock absorbers needs replaced, and the entire tail pan (from the bent part under the tail light, to the crushed valence by the exhaust) also needs replaced.

All that to say, to repair it COMPLETELY (which is how insurance estimates it) would cost about $3200. The value of the car is $2978.

Figures. So I'll get about $3000 for the total, with which i'll replace the tail light and black trim piece, as well as have the buckled quarter not replaced, put pulled with a frame rack to straighten it out.

Hopefully I'll wind up with about $2500 in pocket. So I'm pretty satisfied.
